Call to Action – November 20th

IN SOLIDARITY WITH THE POPULAR ASSEMBLY OF THE PEOPLE OF OAXACA THE SIXTH COMMISSION OF THE ZAPATISTA ARMY OF NATIONAL LIBERATION HAVE CALLED FOR A MEXICO-WIDE GENERAL STRIKE.

The Clandestine Revolutionary Indigenous Committee-General Command of the Zapatista Army of National Liberation issued a call for nation-wide road blockades.

We are inviting NYC to show support for the people of Oaxaca and the grass roots organization, APPO, by taking action on November 20th.

There will be organized direct actions at Universities throughout the Metro Area to Highlight the injustice of martial law, killings, and beatings in response to a student supported teachers strike, and subsequnt popular campaign for the removal of the illegitimate governor of Oaxaca, Ulises Ruiz Ortiz.

Let the Mexican Consulate know you are paying attention to the repression of one of the most truly democratic representations of the will of the people in the western hemisphere. Let the Mexican Mission to the UN know that you will not tolerate Mexico residing on the UN human rights commission when it brutalizes popular non-violent peoples movements in their own cities. Let the AP and the New York Times, and all of the other complicit mass-media outlets know that we will not stand for their denial of the atrocities being waged against the people of Oaxaca in the shadow of their deceitful reporting. Let those who promote this state violence against the people of Oaxaca hear LOUD AND CLEAR: “Federal Forces Out of Oaxaca! Down with Governor Ruiz! Viva the Popular Assembly of the People of Oaxaca!”
